Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11. It was September 11th of 2001 that terrorists flew hijacked planes into the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York City.  For most Americans, those images remain as vivid today as they were two decades ago.
I was in New York City about a month after the attacks.  I went to visit my friend Beth and we journeyed down to the annual Halloween parade in the Village.  I will never forget being there just weeks after the attack.  The city was different.  Quiet.  I could still smell the dust from Ground Zero.  People were in the streets, but there was a palpable sense of unease about being there.  But, yet, there we were- embracing the spirit of what makes America America.
Twenty years later,, that spirit will be on full display at special commemorative events around the country.  We have many scheduled right here in the tristate.  One of them will take place in Whitesville.
I got a message from my longtime friend Patsy Mayfield, who's the Mayor of the City of Whitesville.  She asked me to help spread the word about their 2nd Annual Tractor Show.  It will take place at Whitesville City Park at 10am, Saturday, September 11th and there will be activities (and food) for the whole family.  The Whitesville Lions Club will be at the park selling hamburgers and drinks.  Plus, there will be additional food vendors as well- selling funnel cakes and pork rinds.

Plus, there will be another vendor selling some incredible wood carvings.
The highlight of the day will most certainly be the tractor parade which gets underway at 1pm.  That parade will be held in remembrance of the tragic events of 9/11.
Mayor Mayfield invites everyone to bring their tractors, lawn chairs and enjoy the event.  After all, it's events like these that make American America and Whitesville Whitesville.
