Chadwick Benefield

Word to yo mama! Thanks for reading my bio. I have hand-crafted it with love and tenderness to give you a sneak peak inside my soul. I am entering my 16th year working at WBKR and just can't believe how quickly the years have flown by. If you listen to The WBKR Waking Crew, thanks! If you don't . . . thanks. LOL! Though I work here at The Country Station, I love all kinds of music and my iPod is loaded up with everything from Thomas Rhett to Katy Perry to Emeli Sande to Kings of Leon to Garth Brooks to Kelly Clarkson to Fall Out Boy to Matchbox Twenty to that little wrecking ball Miley Cyrus. I am an avid tennis fan (I've played my whole life and it is my absolute favorite sport) and I run every single day. In fact, that's how I dropped 30 pounds in 18 months. And I love watching television to wind down. My favorite shows are all over the place just like my tastes in music. I love The Blacklist, The X Factor, Sleepy Hollow, The Biggest Loser, Dexter (though he's done), Project Runway, RuPaul's Drag Race, The Long Island Medium, Storm Chasers, American Horror Story, The Amazing Race and pretty much anything on The Tennis Channel or ESPN. I vacation . . . a lot! I love Mexico and any place I can get to on a cruise ship.

Why Do Humans Have Big Butts? [Video]

We have big butts and we cannot lie.  LOL!!  Did you ever wonder why humans have big butts?  Well, the Smithsonian appears to have the answer.  Check out this video from the Smithsonian Channel on YouTube.  It's pretty cool and, honestly, I would never have guessed this to be reason why there's so much junk in our trunks.

What Haley the Intern Learned at Prom: Tips for High School Girls

Haley the Intern spent last Friday night at prom.  On Monday, she was killing Moon and me with her stories about her "big" night.  She bought a really expensive dress, had a heckuva time getting photos taken, couldn't find a decent song to dance to at the actual event, and was at home and in bed before midnight.  So, I asked Haley to compile some tips (based on what she learned) for the girls at other schools who haven't had their "big" nights yet.  Here they are . . .

Red Ear Syndrome: Chad Suffers from Rare and Weird Symptoms

Well, apparently I have inherited some weird and random syndrome from my grandmother.  And I'm finally breaking the silence (lol).  The other night, after Brett and I returned from WBKR Night at the Opry, I looked into the bathroom mirror and noticed that my right ear was glowing like Rudolph's nose.  I mean, literally!  It was bright candy apple red.  It was burning hot.  And it looked like it had been burned with a hair dryer.  And, though it's happened before, it completely freaked me out.  So, what is this bizarre affliction?  How is it that my right ear can catch fire and my left ear looks perfectly normal?  I did a little research into Red Ear Syndrome.  And, yes!  It's real.

Funeral Services for Hal Miller Today at First Baptist Church

Owensboro icon Hal Miller is being laid to rest today.  Services begin at 11am this morning at First Baptist Church in downtown Owensboro.  And if yesterday's visitation at Glenn Funeral Home is any indication, folks will be lining up in droves to pay their respects to and honor a man who, in many ways, touched us all.  As I was visiting with Hal's daughters Rooster and Karen yesterday,  it occurred to me just how many memories of Windy Hollow I personally carry.  And I know that many of you have memories that are just as fond. I want to share a few of mine.
