Chadwick Benefield

Chad here! After 11 years of being one half of The WBKR Waking Crew and The CB Radio Show, I am now one half of the all-new Morning Drive on 92.5 with Chad & Angel. Our show runs 6a-10am CST Monday through Friday and I also co-host The BKR's Dozen Countdown with Dave Spencer each Saturday morning at 8am. In addition to flapping my lips on the air, I emcee a variety of events all over the state of Kentucky. I emcee charity functions, beauty pageants and dance competitions. I love country music. In fact, I love all kids of music. I listen to everything from Justin Moore to Katy Perry to Sam Smith to David Nail to Kings of Leon to Garth Brooks to Kelly Clarkson to J Hud and Pitbull. I love tennis and reality television. When I am not working I am likely on the sectional watching America's Got Talent, Project Runway, The Biggest Loser, American Horror Story, and pretty much anything on The Tennis Channel or ESPN. I vacation . . . a lot! I love Mexico and any place I can get to on a cruise ship. I live in Owensboro with Kevin, Dolly, Ellie and a cat named Oprah.

The Five Places to Hide in Owensboro During the Zombie Apocalypse [List]

I am a huge of The Walking Dead.  Though, I'm not really sure I would be a huge fan if there were zombies actually roaming around the streets of Owensboro.  That would suck.  As one of the characters says in Shaun of the Dead, "They're a bit bitey!"  And they may walk slowly, but they're really good at sneaking up behind you or just appearing out of nowhere.  That's why I have compiled a list of the Five Places to Hide in Owensboro During the Zombie Apocalypse.  This is a survival guide, People.  I want to be able to see these things coming and I would prefer to have Daryl's crossbow or Michonne's big old sword too.  I think I have just the places to set up shop and get ready for battle.

Lance Crabtree Really Wants to Meet Carrie Underwood in Evansville [Video]

Meet Lance Crabtree.  The fact that Lance is alive is a miracle.  When he was an infant, he was basically given no chance of survival and his parents were even advised to start making funeral arrangements for him.  That was thirteen years ago.  Yep!  Lance is now 13, full of life, and just obsessed with a certain country music singer.  For his birthday on May 30th, Lance's parents surprised him with tickets to see his crush, Carrie Underwood, live at The Ford Center in Evansville on November 11th.  What Lance really wants (and what we're hoping to make happen) is to meet Carrie when she's in town.

Vintage Footage of Opryland USA Theme Park from 1988 [Video]

Oh my goodness!  This video brings back a ton of childhood memories. Last year here at WBKR.com, I shared a story called Remembering Opryland USA: The Home of American Music.  That blog contained some vintage footage of the park.  Thanks to YouTube, I found some more.  Check this out.  It's a video from the summer of 1988 courtesy of Derek Fugate.  You're going to see footage of some of your favorite rides and attractions from Opryland, including the famous Wabash Cannonball.

What Would You Do if You Found a Tarantula on Your Back Porch? [Video]

It's a question I have never asked myself.  Thankfully, I have never had to because, honestly, I can't even imagine it.  I saw the movies Arachnophobia and Eight Legged Freaks and they were both pretty horrifying.  And this from a person who doesn't even really mind spiders.  But I would mind THIS one!  Look at this thing my friend Shannon found on her Sand Springs (a.k.a. Jurassic Park, Oklahoma) back porch over the weekend.  It is a monster tarantula and it scared the crap out of her.
