The word cheap has a lot of negative connotations attached to it. Just because something doesn't mean something is not good. Cheap allows everyone to save a little money and who doesn't like to save little dough every now and then? Well, we here at WBKR (and Joe Lowe from sister station WOMI) have compiled our list of the best cheap restaurants here in Owensboro. Is your stomach rumbling in anticipation yet?

Morning Show Co-Host Chad Benefield's pick: Big Dipper

My favorite "cheap eats" place in Owensboro is, without a doubt, the BIG DIPPER! Nothing beats a BLT, with a side of onion rings and a homemade cherry or vanilla coke! That said, since I gave up carbonation for the New Year, I have replaced the soft drinks with good old-fashioned MILK SHAKES!! (Because that sounds healthier, right??) At the DIPPER, you can get all that for just about $5.00! There aren't too many places left where you can get that kind of grub for five bucks!

Big Dipper - 2820 West Parrish Avenue - (270) 684-4806

Production Guru Extraordinaire (and DJ on occasion) Steve Horn's Pick: Cracker Barrel

The Cracker Barrel is one of my favorite places to eat – I Love their down home country cooking like chicken & dumplings, mashed potatoes & gravy, biscuits that melt in your mouth and they can also cook up a mean steak!

Cracker Barrel - 5311 Frederica St - (270) 684-4118

DJ Erin Grant's Pick: Old Hickory Bar-B-Q

Old Hickory BBQ has the BEST BBQ in Owensboro! Friendly staff, not noisy...I'd recommend sliced pork, with onion and pickle of course.

Old Hickory Bar-B-Q - 338 Washington Ave - 270-926-9000

Joe Lowe, morning show host on sister station WOMI's pick: Madewell's Corner Cafe

The best is Madewell's right across from Owensboro Grain on 2nd St. Jeff and Kim Madewell are owners/operators. Great Bfast and a traditional meat and 3 type of place for lunch. For about $5 it is more than you can eat and always great. Pan Fried Chicken is the best.

Madewell's Corner Cafe - Right on the corner of Hathaway & Hwy 60 - (270) 926-5002

Afternoon DJ Dave Spencer's pick: JD's Restaurant

J.D.'s Restaurant at 15th and Breckenridge. Breakfast and lunch only. Great, great prices. Lunch is a meat & three and a drink for something like $5.50. And the food is just good. Good ol' diner food.

JD's Restaurant - 1420 Breckenridge Street -  (270) 683-9419

Web Guy Brad's (also Bradio) pick: Pan Asian

Pan Asian is my favorite Chinese restaurant to eat at when I'm in Owensboro. There lunch specials cannot be beat. A nice serving of various entrees with sides as well as large serving of soup of your choice (I get Egg Drop): all of that for a little over five bucks! General Tsao's Chicken is my favorite dish to judge all of the Chinese restaurants I've been too and let me tell you, Pan Asian ranks high on my list!

Pan Asian - 2656 Frederica St - (270) 852-5288

So, there's a little roundup of our top 6 best cheap restaurants in Owensboro. Was there any that we missed?
