Boys and Ghouls! There’s a ‘Halloween Spooktacular’ Coming to Owensboro, Kentucky

This is no trick at all. In fact, this announcement is all treats! Beverly's Hearty Slice, a nonprofit based in Owensboro, Kentucky, just revealed its plans for its third Halloween Spooktacular.

Beverly's Hearty Slice, which just celebrated its third anniversary, is the creation of Travis Owsley, who says that on September 11th, 2020, he "prayed to God about the concerns and needs of the community." He then took the proverbial leap of faith and created his nonprofit, which is named for his mother, Beverly. She was known for nurturing and feeding the members of her community and the nonprofit was created in her honor and image. Today, there are a variety of Beverly's Hearty Slice community feeding events and celebrations in Owensboro.

Over the last three years, Travis says the charity "went from serving pizza and bottles of water every two weeks in the rain, sleet, snow and 100 degrees to now helping families with OMU vouchers, Walmart gift cards, voter registration, coat drives, holiday events and more."

Once again in partnership with Southern Star, Beverly's Hearty Slice is hosting the Halloween Spooktacular, which is coming up Friday, October 20th at 5:30pm at Kendall Perkins Park in Owensboro.  There will be candy (lots of it), FREE costumes for kids who need them, a fun photo booth and various Disney princesses on hand for photo ops.  Plus, Beverly's Hearty Slice will be serving up what it's known for- pizza!

Decorations and costumes will be sponsored by Halloween Havoc, which is open for the season in the front of Towne Square Mall here in Owensboro.
