November 20, 2011 I'm not sure how long we've been doing our live broadcasts from Gaylord Opryland's "A Country Christmas," but it always kicks off the holiday season for me..and for the thousands of guests populating this extraordinary resort as we speak.
Thousands lined up 2nd Street in Downtown Owensboro to enjoy the 75th Annual Christmas Parade, WBKR was glad to be apart of it as always as we played Christmas music and waved to everyone and seen alot of familiar faces and alot of new faces and smiles on kids faces and they were waiting for Santa. We took a little bit of footage of the crowd as we rolled down 2nd Street.
November 18, 2011 I was thinking about the upcoming 75th Annual Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade, and it occurred to me how my involvement with the parade as evolved over the years.
November 17, 2011 Recently I did a live broadcast from Terry's Tees here in Owensboro. It was the official kick-off of our 2011 'O Christmas Tee' campaign. So when I did my first break, the floodgates opened, and in came the WBKR faithful to pick up the shirts. As you know, the 'O Christmas Tee' holiday t-shirts must be worn on Black Friday if you want a shot at a Country Christmas Vacation from Gaylord Opryland Resort. But now it seems the line between Thanksgiving and Black Friday--I'll call it, oh I don't know, MIDNIGHT--is becoming very blurry.

Veterans Day is an annual holiday honoring those who have served our country. Thanks is not a big enough word to express about how much we appreciate all our service men & women have done to serve our country. Despite the fact that the holiday originated from World War I, it is now celebrated to emcompass all veterans of wars, conflicts, and active duty service. In the United States, the armed services community is very tight, and the army, navy, air force, National guard and reserves of the U.S. have been very important in shaping the country as well as the entire world.
It's finally here the big day where kids will load up on candy as they go door to door trick-or-treating, please look out for the little one's tonight drive carfeully and reduce your speed. Ok now on to the fun facts ; Halloween beats out Valentines Day big time for the most chocolate sold, how about 90 million pounds or roughly 1.9 billion is spent on Halloween candy each year. More American are ready for Halloween this year it's up 68% from 63% last year.

I was visiting J&M/Halloween Havoc next to Buffalo Wild Wings in Owensboro a few days ago, they have a gigantic selection of costumes, masks, make-up, novelties and so much more! I think the celebrity masks they have are funny like Charlie Sheen, President Bush, President Obama and the list goes on & on. You need to go by and check them out, they also have a location in Tell City next to the 4-H Fairgrounds, I didn't realize there are so many celebrity masks. Check out the video's to see what I mean!
September 22, 2011 The holiday season has begun! If you've only been paying attention to this early onslaught for the last few years, I'll let you in a not-so-secret little secret--it's ALWAYS started this early. It's just that, back in the day, it wasn't as hyped as it is now. I remember as a kid waiting with bated breath for the arrival of that first Christmas catalogue in the mail. Would it be Sears? Would it be JC Penney? Who knew? Who cared?
