Ladies, this is not a dream... I have a video of Jake Owen singing shirtless! Yes, your Monday just turned into a Friday!
This past weekend at a show in Charleston, Jake's pants ripped...on stage! As he tweeted, he was underwear-less. Thanks to some quick thinking from his crew, they just taped his shirt up around his, ummm, problem area and let him finish his set! I knew if I was patient enough, visual evidence was come up... boy was I right!
Check out this video of Jake finishing his set, shirtless!
Will it be Candice Glover or Kree Harrison? Last night, our two American Idol finalists competed in the first all-female finale since Idol's third season. So, who won the night and earned the crown? WBKR's Idol expert, Steve Thompson, chimes in . . .
Here at WBKR, we get asked all the time about Goldie's Survivor, our long-running talent contest at Goldie's. It was a blend of Survivor and American Idol and hundreds of folks each year battled to try and make the 10-week finals. The contest was basically reality television on stage and the show sold out virtually every week due to equal parts of talent and on-stage drama. We often get asked how our former champions are doing. Season Two champion Teresa Cook continues to make fans as Kizzy. Season Three champion Shannon Sellers lives in Nashville now. Season Five champion Rollie Pike later went on to win the Battle for The Big O and is with us each year for our St. Jude Radiothon. And, now, we're hearing from Season 6 champion Michael Woosley, who just released a new duet called "Watch Me." Check it out!
The Boston Marathon bombing affected us all, including Kenny Chesney. After seeing the devastation caused on that day, he decided that he wanted to do his part in helping he victims of the tragedy. With help from the Boston Medical Center, he founded the Spread the Love Fund to help those who needed prosthetic limbs and post-prosthetic care.
Now, we know why Carrie Underwood was mean to Chad when we met her in 2008. We were backstage at the Kenny Chesney show. Carrie was just starting out and meeting radio folks, like us. Well, she seemed really distant, non-responsive and somewhat rude
Tonight, Nashville resident Kree Harrison is going to face off with Candice Glover in part one the American Idol finale. Recently, here at WBKR, we stumbled across some footage of Kree from WAY back in the day. LOL! Check her out in this archived video from The Rosie O'Donnell Show. Ten-year-old Kree belted out Martina McBride's "A Broken Wing!"
Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles and her husband welcomed a baby boy last December. Until Mother's Day, the public hadn't seen Magnus Hamilton Miller. But, the singer tweeted a precious picture of the two of them along with a sweet message.
For years I thought Darius Rucker was the leader of the band, Hootie and the Blowfish. Now, we find that even though he co-founded the group, guitarist Mark Bryan was the boss. All Darius did was sing. Rucker told CMT.com,"To be honest with you, wh
On Tuesday night, Jim Ed Brown, like he has for fifty years, stood in the famed circle at The Grand Ole Opry. He announced to the crowd that, for the first time in a long time, he was releasing a new single and he was doing it at the age of 79. See, that's the ebb and flow of any career, but particularly a career in popular music. Over the course of three decades (the 50's, 60's and 70's), Jim Ed Brown was a proven hitmaker. But strings of hits just don't last forever. While the hands on the clock refuse to quit spinning, the record players and the radio stations often times stop the "spinning" in its tracks. They routinely start "spinning" tunes from younger artists, the next generation of hitmakers. But this country music staple, this Grand Ole Opry icon, is still at it . . . with a brand new song in which he professes "I'd like to be in style again someday."
Candice Glover. Kree Harrison. Angie Miller. One of those ladies will be the next American Idol. One of them will finish this season in third place. Last night, our remaining Idol hopefuls took the stage and performed three songs a piece with one goal in mind . . . making the Idol finale. So, who stepped up? Who, as Randy Jackson would say, is really "in it to win it." And who may be missing her ultimate dream by just a single episode. Let's check in with WBKR's American Idol expert, Steve Thompson!
