Those iconic jingles for McDonald's (the former) and Burger King (the latter)--created more than 30 years ago--became part of the American lexicon and only intensified the magnitude of the legendary burger chains' popularity. June 23, 2011 My dad was the ultimate rubber-necker. You know how most people, due to simple human nature, will slow down or stop if they see a wreck or a fire? Dad would actually get out of the car to get a closer look--in some cases, a MUCH closer look. That was usually because he knew most of the police or fire department. Nonetheless, that was no excuse--in my opinion--for a stunt he pulled on U.S. 431 just south of Owensboro when I was a little kid.

As an example . . . we'll see how may degrees separate me from. . . let's say . . . Gwyneth Paltrow. I, of course, know Jaclyn Graves. Jaclyn knows Blake Shelton. Blake Shelton is good buddies with Cee Lo Green! And Cee Lo Green performed with Gwyneth Paltrow on The Grammys! OMG!! I'm just FOUR degrees separated from Gwyneth Paltrow! (And just FIVE from Coldplay!) Now, thanks to an old college friend of mine, I'm just TWO degrees separated from HOWIE MANDEL!

I completely agree with the fictional federal agent. If something seems to be a coincidence, why does it feel like everything fell into place to make sure it happened precisely as it did? Coincidence? I think not. And when I learned the story of Sandra, a server at the Owensboro Cracker Barrel, I felt the exact same way.
June 6, 2011 A few years ago, I checked on how much it would cost a family of four to spend a week at the Orlando Disney Megaplex. After putting my eyes back in my head and lifting my jaw off the floor (I beat the 5-second rule), I asked my mother how it was possible for the four of us--her, my dad, my sister, and me--to go to Disney World and spend a week when I was a kid. She told me that it was a combination of income tax returns and Dad's old embalming machine. Yes, you read that right.
The weather changed fast this morning and something pretty spooky happened that I've never really noticed before.
In the movies bank heists always include cool masks. Like for instance, the Joker in "The Dark Knight", clown masked his comrades in crime. I've seen the presidential rubber masks and even those semi- transparent human face masks...those really creep me out. The thing is you usually don't use outdated hair dos to hide your true identity, that is of course, until the mullet bandit arrived.

Well, Mark Zuckerberg, the genius who invented this new part of our lives, has come up with another concept--although I'm not sure how or even if this will catch on.
