Sandra Snow, who lives in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, just took the trip of lifetime to the Pacific Northwest. The trip was a Christmas present from her fiancé, Chris Plummer and, according to Sandra, it turned out to be "A M A Z I N G." That trip included a fun visit to Tunnel Beach in Oregon (in the photo above) and a sightseeing extravaganza in Seattle, Washington.  See, Chris is from Ohio County as well, but lived in Washington for ten years before moving back home. Clearly, he knew all the must-see places to visit.

Now, before we get to the sightseeing, I do think it's important (and really fun) to point out that Sandra and Chris also took in a concert while they were gone.  It was an epic 80s stadium tour that featured four legendary hair bands, including Def Leppard, which has long been Sandra's favorite band.

Of course, since she was in Seattle, Sandra, like most tourists, felt compelled to visit the Space Needle.  She did and grabbed this awesome photo.

But one of the coolest experiences she had on her trip was at Chihuly Garden and Glass. Sandra and Chris photographed some of the most stunning pieces of glass art I have ever seen.

Chihuly Garden and Glass is located adjacent to Seattle's famed Space Needle and features the work of Dale Chihuly, who was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1941. Dale was introduced to and became enamored with glass while studying at the University of Washington. In the mid 60s, according to the Chihuly website, he enrolled in his first glass program. That was at the University of Wisconsin.  The rest is history. His works are now featured in over 200 museums worldwide, including the exquisite display in Seattle, which opened ten years ago.

Sandra admits that "Chris and I would stop taking pictures in the middle of the museum and just say, 'Pictures will never do this justice.'"

But, I have to say- they came darn close.

Sandra says the "sheer scale of these installments is unreal" and the works were "breathtaking."

LOOK: Stunning vintage photos capture the beauty of America's national parks

Today these parks are located throughout the country in 25 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The land encompassing them was either purchased or donated, though much of it had been inhabited by native people for thousands of years before the founding of the United States. These areas are protected and revered as educational resources about the natural world, and as spaces for exploration.
