The RiverPark Center in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky is about to kick off it's 2023-2024 Broadway Series and they're going to do it with a musical that was nominated for seven Tony Awards back in 2017.

The musical is Come From Away, which tells the story of how the small town of Gander (in Newfoundland, Canada) accommodated 38 planes and nearly 7000 passengers when they were diverted there following the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon here in the United States.

The characters in Come From Away are based on some actual residents in Gander and the various travelers they sheltered, fed and came to know in the days following those attacks.

I had the opportunity to see the musical (which I loved) during its run on Broadway. In fact, I saw it shortly after it opened and I, like some many other theater lovers, was instantly moved by its infinite celebration of kindness and the human spirit.

A couple of years ago, a filmed version of the Broadway musical made its way to Apple TV+.

If you didn't get the chance to see the show on Broadway or on Apple TV, you should seriously consider visiting the RiverPark Center on Monday, October 30th. The touring production of Come From Away is rolling into Owensboro for one stirring performance. I promise you that you will be moved by the performances and the message.

Tickets are available by visiting the RiverPark Center's official website or you can call the box office at 270-687-2770. Also, the RiverPark Center is offering a discount code for first responders. If you fall into that category, you can access those codes by visiting the RiverPark Center Box Office in person.
