Tuesday, June 27th is National HIV Testing Day and Matthew 25 AIDS Services is once again teaming up with several Walgreens locations here in western Kentucky to administer free tests.

Last year, we partnered with Matthew 25 to promote the event and I chose to broadcast live from the testing site at Walgreen's Frederica Street location in Owensboro. While there, I decided to have my own test conducted live on the air. After all, it's important to know your status and, thanks to highly advanced testing, you can know your status in moments.

The test requires a simple prick of the finger.

And you'll have your results in about 60 seconds.

That is what a negative test result looks like.

However, if you test positive, the staff of Matthew 25 will immediately provide you with a list of medical resources, many of which they can coordinate.

As they have for the last few years, Matthew 25 is providing incentives to people to encourage them to test. This year, each person who completes a test will receive a $20 gift card (while supplies last).

Here's a list of the three testing locations here in western Kentucky.

Last year's testing event in western Kentucky was wildly successful. Matthew 25 AIDS Services ended the 2022 event tied for first (in the country) for the most HIV tests completed by a single agency. In the estimation of Development Manager Rachel Trout, that is "phenomenal."

On Tuesday, we'll again be broadcasting from the Owensboro test site and to encourage you to stop by for your free test.  #KnowYourStatus Of course, those tests are confidential.
