Iconic Indiana Movie Location Is in the Middle of Eclipse’s Path of Totality

If you're making plans to travel to get the best possible view of the total solar eclipse, you could do a lot worse than visiting an iconic movie set.

Trips like that are right up my alley. In Memphis, I walked where Tom Cruise ran for his life in The Firm. In Dyersville IA, I watched tourists play baseball on the Field of Dreams. A couple of years later, I was back in Iowa and taking a stroll across a covered bridge featured prominently in Clint Eastwood's The Bridges of Madison County.

But none of those places has going for it what Knightstown IN has. Yes, it's the site of a iconic sports film, but it also happens to be in the center of the path of totality.

If you're traveling to central Indiana for the total solar eclipse and you're a movie fan, you simply can't pass up a chance to visit the gym from Hoosiers.

I don't know many times I've seen Hoosiers, but it never gets old and I always find something I hadn't noticed before--truly the mark of a great film.

As you can see, not only can you tour this historic old gym, but you can also play basketball in it. That's just like the Field of Dreams set where guests are invited to grab a glove and go for it.

But the Hoosiers Gym isn't the only place you can soak up all the wonderful vibes from this iconic movie. However, you will have to hit the road; the movie's fictional town of Hickory was played by New Richmond IN, which is about 100 miles away from Knightstown.

It's the opportunity of a lifetime. You get to experience a rare astronomical event AND visit the place where fictional Jimmy Chitwood hit the SHOT of a lifetime.
