The Kentucky State Police released information regarding an arson investigation into a fatal fire in Henderson.

Official Statement from the KSP:

Kentucky State Police Post 16-Henderson received a call from Henderson County Sheriff’s Department in regards to a structure fire that occurred around 1255 at 6877 Old Henry-Spottsville Road in Spottsville, KY. Responding officials located a deceased person inside the residence and requested a KSP arson investigator to investigate the fire. KSP Detective Mike Smith has been actively investigating the death and was assisted by authorities with the Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s Office; Henderson County Sheriff’s Department; Henderson County Coroner’s Office and Spottsville Fire Department.

It is still early in the investigation; however, the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen area and appears accidental at this time. An autopsy for the deceased is scheduled tomorrow in Louisville.

The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police and the Henderson County Coroner’s Office.
