Owensboro is home to Jason Koger, a bilateral amputee who recently made national headlines when he acquired two brand new bionic hands from Touch Bionics.  Now, our version of The Six Million Dollar Man has a new female counterpart.  Meet Aimee Copeland, The Bionic Woman.  Aimee lost her hands due to a deadly, flesh-eating bacteria.  But, thanks to the same cutting-edge technology that has given Jason Koger a magnificent, new set of hands, Aimee now has a brand new set as well and, like Jason,  she recently showed them off on CNN.  Check this out!  You will immediately recall her story and be amazed at how well she is doing today . . .

This new technology is mind-blowing.  And, here at WBKR, we have been privileged enough to see them in action in person.  Check out this video from Jason Koger's visit to The WBKR Waking Crew.  This is so cool!

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman.  It would be impossible to count how many hours of my childhood I burned in front of the television watching those shows.  I never in a million years thought, in some ways, the day would come when being "bionic" would actually be a reality. Like I said . . . so cool.
