Most of the movies I've seen that have been shot wholly or partly in Tennessee have been filmed in Nashville. That includes obvious country music movies like 2005's Walk the Line, 1980's Coal Miner's Daughter, and 1975's Nashville (a FICTIONAL country music movie).

But a new movie I'm looking forward to seeing was shot in Music City's nearby neighbor to the northwest, Clarksville, and has nothing to do with country music. In fact, it's not even SET in Tennessee.

Nicole Kidman -- Lovin' Life in Central Tennessee for More Than 15 Years

When Nicole Kidman and her then-new husband Keith Urban moved to Nashville in 2007, they were immediate fans of the decision. Nicole, in particular, was publicly vocal about her love for the city. They enjoy dinners and shopping just like any other resident and, by all accounts, they're not bothered by gawkers or paparazzi like they would be in Hollywood. Kidman has even mentioned that difference as a huge plus with regard to living in central Tennessee where she and Urban are primarily based. They also have a home in Australia.

Nicole Kidman Heads Up Interstate 24 to Film a Thriller

So taking the lead role in a movie that would be filmed just an hour up the road was likely a no-brainer. It's called Holland MI, and it required the transformation of downtown Clarksville into a city that's more than 500 miles away.

The movie's screenplay was floating around Hollywood for a decade before being scooped up by three production companies, including Kidman's own Blossom Films.

What's Holland MI All About?

In Holland MI, she plays a schoolteacher who suspects her husband is leading a double life and enlists the help of another teacher to dig up the truth. Kidman's co-stars include Gael Garcia Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle, Old) and two-time Succession Emmy-winner Matthew McFadyen.

Filming began AND wrapped last April as crews headed to the title town for finishing touches.

Holland MI was originally slated for a late 2023 release but has been pushed to an as yet undisclosed date in 2024.

PICTURES: See Inside Keith Urban + Nicole Kidman's Luxurious Tennessee Farmhouse

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were living it up in their 5,086-square-foot, 4-bedroom farmhouse in Franklin, Tenn., a rural community 30 minutes outside of Nashville. The house is beautifully well-appointed. The master bedroom features a very large walk-in closet, and the gated, 35-acre property also includes a gym, recreation rooms, an office and a three-car garage, as well as a utility barn. The couple sold their rural farmhouse in 2018 for $2.7 million.
