Owensboro Icon Joel Utley Inducted into Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame [VIDEO]

He's an Owensboro institution and a familiar voice announcing basketball games for more years than I've been on this earth. So it's absolutely right that Joel Utley be inducted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame.

Utley has been on the call for eight Kentucky Wesleyan Panther National Championship wins and has been behind the mic for more than five decades.

WFIE's Shaelie Clark reports, via WAVE3 in Louisville, that his nomination was kept secret from him by the Wesleyan staff until the announcement.

What a great honor for a local legend.

Seriously, I hear the name Joel Utley, let alone his voice, and I'm nostalgic. I remember his calls from when I was a kid.
