Shoulda Been a Hit: Catherine Britt & Elton John’s “Where We Both Say Goodbye” [Video]

What do you get when you cross one country-singing Australian beauty and a pop/rock music legend?  Well, on paper, you should get a smash duet.  And Dave Spencer and I, back in 2005, were both convinced that "Where We Both Say Goodbye" was going to be just that.  Catherine Britt was having chart success back home in the Land Down Under and, with her move to Nashville, she was primed for a run at the U.S. charts.  Armed with the legendary pipes of Elton John and what seemed to be the right song, Britt seemed poised to break onto the scene in a big way.  Only it didn't happen . . . at all.

Will Queen Elizabeth II See Her Platinum Jubilee? [VIDEO]

The monarchy has always fascinated me. Yes, other countries have kings and queens, but the tradition in England is what is etched in our minds. The crowns, the throne, the whole big show, it's what makes the British monarchy an enduring institution. Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee this year and she's one of the rare leaders to see a 60-year reign, the other being Queen Victoria, who ruled a total of 64 years. If Elizabeth makes it to her Platinum Jubilee, she will be 96 years old.

American Idol Takes On Sir Elton John!

Last night, our remaining 11 contestants on American Idol took on the songbook of Sir Elton John, and, for me, it was the first time this season that contestants really showed what they're made of.  From top to bottom, the show was one of the strongest episodes of Idol in years.  So, who was the cream of the crop, the top of the heap?  And who's going to say "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road!"   We look to our Idol expert Steve Thompson to make his predictions . . .
