Grand Ole Opry Extends An Invitation To Join Their Circle Over The Weekend

"Rock me Momma like a wagon wheel, rock me Momma anyway you feel. Hey, hey, Momma rock me." Don't lie, you sang that out loud, didn't you?!? Of course you did!

The Old Crow Medicine Show has been fairly under the mainstream music radar for the last 15 years. Their cult hit, "Wagon Wheel" has been a hit in college towns and for cover bands for several years though.

This past weekend, from one little invitation from Marty Stuart, their recognition will be skyrocketed!

Shoulda Been a Hit: Bradley Gaskin’s “Mr. Bartender” [Video]

It's about that time again.  When Dave Spencer, Jaclyn and I look back over the last 12 months and choose our favorite songs of the year.  In 2011, #9 on my list was Bradley Gaskin's country throwback, "Mr. Bartender."  It seems to me that country music fans long (and, at the time, were longing) for that brand of "old-school" country.  We hear it all the time here on WBKR.  Our listeners tell us that country "just ain't country" anymore.  But THIS song was pure country and I thought for sure it was going to be a hit.  Instead, it was a biscuit without a lick of gravy.

Chad Hits Brett Eldredge in the Nose with a Microphone [Audio]

I totally did.  Thwacked him!  Right in the honker.  Earlier this week I was broadcasting live from backstage at The Grand Ole Opry.  Brett wanted to stop by and chat about his brand new single and I was really looking forward to catching up with him.  We met last year at the Legendary Live concert in downtown Owensboro and he was really fun.  Little did he know that Benefield was about to give him a nose job live on the air . . . with a microphone!  LISTEN.  This is hilarious.  Well, maybe not for Brett's nose.

Scotty McCreery Sings “The Dance” at Grand Ole Opry [Video]

Regina Regina Regina Howard, The WBKR Waking Crew's resident "nut," called in Monday morning to request a song.  She wanted to hear Scotty McCreery's version of 'The Dance" by Garth Brooks.  Regina said she heard him do a version of it at The Grand Ole Opry and it was "wonderful."  I hadn't heard it.  So, I did some research and found it!  This video was only uploaded to YouTube a few days ago and it has already become quite a smash on the web.  LISTEN!

Jac Interview’s Kix Brooks At The Grand Ole Opry [AUDIO]

Tuesday night I had the pleasure of broadcasting from backstage at The Grand Ole Opry. I absolutely LOVE this place! And, I even got to broadcast from the "Women Of Country" dressing room! (Maybe one day I'll be in that dressing room before playing the Opry!)

How surprised was I when I found out that country music legend Kix Brooks (Brooks & Dunn) was going to be joining me for an interview while I was there?!? I'll be honest, I'm not used to talking with artists of his stature, so I was a little nervous, but he was SO nice! And, found out he co-owns a winery in Tennessee... can't beat that! ;)

Take a listen to Kix and I kickin' it and check out what he's been up to lately!
