If you have a teenager who's looking for a job or looking to gain some training and guidance on how to find one, there's a great opportunity coming up this week here in Owensboro. The Owensboro Youth Empowerment Summit and the Daviess County Public Library are teaming up for a Teen Job Fair.

The first such job fair (as part of the partnership) was held a couple years ago and co-organizer Demarcus Curry says, "A few teens have been working their same job since that very first fair."  In some cases, teens were hired on the spot at the job fair and began work just days later. That could happen again this year. In fact, that's the hope of the organizers as well as the attendees.

Sarah Jacobs, with the Daviess County Public Library says this is the library's 5th job fair and they average between 100 to 150 teens per event. Those teens come mostly from local schools, but some actually visit from surrounding areas.

This year, there will be a variety of local employers on site. So far, there are commitments from Culver's, Ritzy's, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Panda Express, KFC, Pizza Hut and Mister B's.  They will be doing on the spot interviews, accepting applications and some will be even be hiring on the spot.

Also, Jaklyn Hill with Owensboro Human Relations Commission, will be on hand with helpful information for teens and their rights in the workplace. There will also be a handful of volunteers on site who will be reviewing resumes and giving tips on how to craft effective ones.
