The American Queen Draws Thousands

Arriving in Owensboro at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, the American Queen made quite an impression docked at English Park. Over 250 passengers disembarked to take a tiny tour of Owensboro for dining, shopping and visiting.

Taking a respite from the river, as they cruise from Louisville to St. Louis, the folks from the Queen dined at restaurants normally closed on Sunday morning, shopped at stores also specially opened for the event and toured the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden as well.

The American Queen even travels with her own bus!

She moved on down the river in mid-afternoon taking with her our memories of the river the way she was in the 1800's when as many as 7 passenger steamboats passed the city each day. We can't wait for the next visit.
