When I was a kid, my cousin Shane scared the holy crap out of me with a story about Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. My mom had gone into labor with my youngest sister and I stayed overnight with my Aunt Onda and Uncle John. Shane, who was a couple of years older than me, kept me awake the entire night with his tales of Sleepy Hollow. Looking back, that's hilarious. At the time, it was horrifying.

That's the beauty of a great legend, right? The scarier it is, the longer life span it has and that 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow' has been scaring the bejesus out of people for centuries.

As a matter of fact, the legend dates all the way back to the 1820 short story by Washington Irving. His "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" has served as the source material for major motion pictures . . .

And a popular television series as well!

Well, just in time for Halloween, that story is about to be resurrected here in Kentucky.

Old Fort Harrod in Harrodsburg is set to play host to The Sleep Hollow Experience, which is billed as "The Nation's Most Thrilling Halloween Attraction."
