Owensboro is so lucky to have exceptional first responders who put their lives on the line daily to help our community stay safe and healthy.  We would be in a world of hurt without them for sure! I have to give a personal shout-out to Fire Department Station Five for taking care of my mama and daddy on several occasions.  I was also fortunate enough to participate in a ride-along with OPD Officer, Travis White, this past spring through the Leadership Owensboro program which opened my eyes to how OPD interacts with the community. He treated people with respect and kindness and is passionate about serving others.

Providing services for a medically vulnerable population, Wendell Foster feels the same about Owensboro first responders. In 2018, they decided to start honoring them in a way that would also be a way for the folks they serve to get to know service men and women better in a fun setting. Doug Hoyt, CEO at Wendell Foster, shared, "First responders serve our community each and every day. Wendell Foster is excited to have the opportunity to serve them lunch as a way to say “Thank You” for that service."
