We’ve Done ‘Em All Our Lives, But Where DID These Halloween Traditions Come From?

wwarby,Flickr

It’s called a jack-o’-lantern. But why “Jack?” Why not a Ted-o’-lantern? What about “trick or treat?” Isn’t that an ultimatum? What about masks? What exactly are we going to do tonight that will make us want to conceal our identity? The answers to these and other burning questions can be found at halloweenishere.com. It’s a really cool website featuring, among other things, all the traditions of Halloween. I’ve been referring to it all weekend. It even has ghost stories–a MUST for October 31st! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I hear a mini-Kit Kat and a handful of candy corn calling my name. Happy Halloween!
