Original Wesleyan Park Plaza Ads from the '60s and '70s

It is arguably Owensboro's most famous strip mall. And maybe I should've said inarguably.

It's been around for nearly 60 years and it's as much a part of our collective psyche as anything in this town.

I had an idea that it would be fun to dig up some old ads from stores and businesses that opened at Wesleyan in the early days and my plan came to fruition with the help of the amazing Aleah Gabbard at the Daviess County Public Library who went above and beyond the call of duty in locating these wonderful old advertisements at newspapers.com.

I kept asking her if it was too much and she reassured me she was having a BLAST finding all this stuff.

Original 1960s and 1970s Ads from Owensboro's Wesleyan Park Plaza

Wesleyan Park Plaza is appropriately in the center of Owensboro. Arguably, there isn't another strip mall with ITS level of name recognition in town. That it's been around nearly 60 years is likely the reason. Check out print ads from openings of some of its stores from the 1960s and 1970s.
