900 Boxes of Cereal Still Needed for Huge Thanksgiving Cereal Drive
As we mentioned last week here at WBKR, J&R Construction Services and Thrivent are joining forces to do something really unique for local families as we rapidly approach the holiday season. They've teamed up to host a Thanksgiving 2020 Cereal Drive.
That drive, as a matter of fact, is already underway. In fact, the Owensboro-based businesses launched the joint effort on Sunday, November 1st and it will continue through Monday, November 23rd (the Monday before Thanksgiving). Collections are being taken at 121 East 2nd Street in Owensboro. Use the entrance off Daviess Street if you plan to drive by and make a donation. The lobby is right across from the RiverPark Center.
Anyone wishing to participate and donate is asked to give between one to one thousand boxes (or any amount in between). Angel and I stopped by Tuesday at Noon to broadcast live and check on the progress. As of this post, they have collected about 100 boxes. That said, their goal is to collect 1000 boxes so they can donate 100 boxes to each of the ten shelters they plan to assist. Those shelters/services are as follows . . .
St. Benedict's
Oasis
Daniel Pitino Shelter
Pleasant Valley Community Church's Food Bank
The Help Office of Owensboro
King's Table (Food Bank)
Church Alive (Food Bank)
St. Joseph Peace Mission for Children
Owensboro Fire Department
Daviess County Fire Department
Henderson Christian Community Outreach
All cereals donated will be distributed among those food banks and shelters in the Owensboro/Henderson areas. Obviously, J&R and Thrivent are looking to collect as much cereal as possible.
So, round up some cereal and get ready to donate to the Thanksgiving 2020 Cereal Drive!
