Owensboro Man Builds Haunted House Bigger Than His Actual House, and It’s “Flirting With PG-13.”
It's baaaaaaack! And Deadwood Manor is bigger, better, and scarier than ever.

Daymon and Karla Ward of Owensboro have once again transformed their front yard into a haunted house of horrors. Over the last few years, Daymon has concocted some pretty crazy and ambitious Halloween ideas.
In 2022, he built a roller coaster in the front yard.

Last year, there was a haunted pirate ship that looked like something you'd see in front of Treasure Island in Las Vegas.

This year, Daymon has constructed a haunted house that's larger than the house he and Karla live in.
Deadwood Manor, which opens to the public on Thursday, October 8, is 2,300 square feet. It sports fifteen terrifyingly themed rooms and was built with 270 two-by-fours and 1,000 feet of black plastic for the walls and roof.

It's the biggest and most frightening undertaking the Wards have tackled. Daymon admits, "This year, we're flirting with PG-13." In fact, when you show up, there's a sign at the entrance that will tell you what level of fear you should anticipate.

Things are going to get wild 'after dark' when a cast of live actors will be lurking inside ready to make you scream (and potentially pee your pants)!

Because of the size and scope of this year's haunted house, guests will be required to sign a waiver. That's new for 2026. However, one constant is the admission price. Deadwood Manor is FREE, though donations to New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services are encouraged and accepted. Karla is the Executive Director of that agency and welcomes your support.

Deadwood Manor is open nightly through Halloween (Saturday, October 31). Weeknights are kid-friendly 'Monster Mash' nights. On the weekends though, you'll be entering 'Nightmare Mode' and 'Deadwood After Dark.'

And be sure to look for a special room inside the haunt. Ten-year-old neighbor Ava Thomson, who's been a longtime fan of Deadwood Manor, was asked to design one of the rooms. She and her dad Marc put together a really scary section of the haunted house that features a floating coffin!

Also new this year will be a photo op if you successfully make it out of Deadwood alive.

Deadwood Manor is located at 4661 Thruston Dermont Road. Here's a look at official rules and additional details.

Deadwood Manor gets its name honestly. But, this Halloween season, all that death springs to very scary life!
