On Friday, October 23rd, we are joining forces with the Greater Owensboro Realtor Association and Kentucky Legend for our first-ever Aid the Homeless Textathon.  The event will run from 6am to 6pm CST and will raise money for Aid the Homeless, which serves six different homeless shelters/services here in Owensboro.  One of the beneficiaries of the event will be the Boulware Mission, which has been serving this community since 1921.  Here's a look at the agency's mission and the impact it has here in Daviess County.

According to Aid the Homeless Board Member Tyler Shookman, money raised last year by Aid the Homeless was incredibly beneficial to Boulware.  Because Aid the Homeless allows agencies benefiting from it to use "unrestricted" finances as needed, Boulware was able to use funding to combat high utility prices at the facility and, in Tyler's words, "keep the heat on last winter."

This morning, on the WBKR morning show, we were joined by Boulware's Executive Director Leigha Taylor, who discussed the impact of Boulware and the monumental importance of next Friday's fundraising event.

Donating during our Aid the Homeless Textathon is incredibly easy. All you have to do is text the word GIVE to 833-814-7739. Stay tuned to WBKR, Friday, October 23rd from 6am to 6pm for hourly updates and the grand tote board total!
