I'm a big fan of ALDI, but I will give it a few weeks between visits to let them switch out their ALDI finds. But something you may have "found" recently needs to be thrown out immediately.

ALDI Pork Contamination

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a health alert about a pork product at the popular discount chain. If you have a package of "Pork Carnitas Seasoned & Seared Pork with Juices Slow Cooked with Citrus" in your refrigerator or freezer, it may be contaminated with small pieces of metal and you should discard it or return it the store where it was purchased.

The "use by" dates are 6/30/25 or 7/1/25 and feature the following label.

Why Are ALDI Pork Carnitas Contaminated?

According to the USDA, during a scheduled process check, it was discovered that there had been damage to production equipment meaning that metal pieces could have gotten into the carnitas. While there have been no reports of illness or injury as a result of these findings, it's best to get rid of this product if you have it.

Since these pork carnitas are no longer being sold, the USDA issued a health alert rather than a recall. If you have any questions, you may call the USDA Meat & Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or email MPHotline@usda.gov.

"Pork Carnitas Seasoned & Seared Pork with Juices Slow Cooked with Citrus", a product that had been shipped to ALDI stores nationwide, is a product of Cargill Meat Solutions. That consumer hotline number is 1-844-419-1574.
