ICE STORM? NO PROBLEM FOR THE ANGELS FOR ASHLEY COOKING TEAM

Seven years ago, more than a foot of snow couldn't stop a record-breaking amount of donations to the St. Jude Radiothon--Jerry's team always puts us over the finish line--and in 2022, he's swatting away an ice storm like it's a gnat.

On Wednesday evening, one day before the start of the WBKR/Window World St. Jude Radiothon, the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team was out in front of Shoe Stop in Wesleyan Park Plaza selling Boston butts and chickens for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Despite all the rain, they moved about 170 butts and 500 chickens. The lines stretched almost all the way around to Kroger.

The Boston butts were gone in what seemed like the blink of an eye.

THE ANGELS FOR ASHLEY COOKING TEAM AND THE ST. JUDE RADIOTHON

I can't remember exactly when Jerry and his crew came on board, but the St. Jude Radiothon hasn't been the same ever since. And if you're wondering why I didn't mention ribs earlier, well that's because he didn't sell any ribs on Wednesday. But never fear, rib fans. You'll get your chance to literally put your money where your mouth is.

While the ice storm will prohibit the cookout on Thursday, February 3rd, the plan is to be back out at Shoe Stop on Friday with Boston butts, chickens, and, yes, ribs. But again--and I can't emphasize this enough, and neither can Jerry--IF THE WEATHER ALLOWS.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

By all accounts, the precipitation will have stopped falling by Friday morning, but the temperatures don't figure to rise above the freezing point until Sunday.

But right now, the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team plans to be at Shoe Stop Friday.

It will be much colder, and there will probably still be some frozen precipitation on the ground, but the rain won't be a factor, and it can really be an ANNOYING factor.

So the images below from Wednesday's sale will look a little bit different than the ones you'll see from this Friday's action.

Get your appetites ready.
