On Saturday, June 19th, my buddies Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team are going to be doing what they do best.  They're going to be cooking for a cause.  This time, the Angels for Ashley are firing up the smokers and rallying around Jackson Roark, a local 13-year-old who has been battling cancer for nearly two years.

Jackson was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in November of 2019.  Following that diagnosis, Jackson had multiple cancer-removing surgeries (in his leg and lungs) and multiple rounds of chemotherapy.  With the emergence of an additional cancer growth in his lungs, Jackson is looking at another full year of treatment.

Just last Monday, Jackson had another surgery during which nine nodules were removed, which was much more than anticipated.  All nine were confirmed osteosarcoma.  Doctors and Jackson's family are working together to determine the next best course of action.

In the meantime, to help the family offset some of those mounting medical costs, Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley are going to be smoking Boston butts and ribs on the 19th.  They're going to have two pickup locations- the Whitesville Mercantile out in Whitesville and at College View Middle School, where Jackson attends school.
