The WBKR/Window World St. Jude Radiothon has dealt with rough winter weather in the past. I mean, it's February which is just January 2.0. And the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team has come through every time.

But this year, for the first time in a LONG time, the weather is beautiful and all systems are go for a St. Jude cookout that's going to bring in a lot of loot for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Make sure you stop by Shoe Stop in Wesleyan Park Plaza Thursday or Friday or BOTH and pick up a delectable Boston butt, rack of ribs, or chicken.

In order to make your purchase as easy as possible, we have a few pro tips to get your ready.

Angels for Ashley/St. Jude Cookout -- the Prices

Might as well begin with the prices. Boston butts are $35, racks of ribs are $25, and chickens are $12 apiece. And you don't even have to get out of your car. We will happily bring your future entrée to you.

No Credit or Debit Cards

Please bring cash to make your purchase as we do not have any way to take a card payment. There are plenty of ATMs near the cookout site, so that won't be a problem. Also, there's another reason to bring cash.

Friends of Jerry

I'm not sure when this started, but Jerry Morris's charitable "side hustle" has been very lucrative for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital over the years. It's very simple. Give Jerry Morris $100 and you'll become a friend of Jerry. Don't worry; he'll ask you for it, so you don't need to remember. This year, however, Friends of Jerry will also receive a wooden St. Jude cross. There are small, medium, and large crosses, and the medium one is what you'll receive when you become a Friend of Jerry for $100. The LARGE ones? When I was out in Whitesville Wednesday, Jerry told me he gave one to a new Friend of Jerry who donated a THOUSAND DOLLARS to St. Jude.

They look amazing, don't they? There are more in those boxes under the table, but when they're gone, they're gone...at least until Jerry, his son Doodle, and Doodle's kids make some more. They've been working on these beauties for months in preparation for the radiothon. And, of course, all the monies go to St. Jude

Don't Wait Until the Last Minute

Jerry and his team have prepared hundreds and hundreds of Boston butts, racks of ribs, and chickens. Last year, there were 600 chickens, 400 butts, and 350 racks, and it was a VERY cold couple of days. Still, the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team sold them all. With much warmer weather this year, I'm expecting traffic at the cookout to come through at a pretty quick clip. Don't miss out.

We hope to see you at Shoe Stop in Owensboro's Wesleyan Park Plaza Thursday or Friday.
