Apollo High School Wins S3DA Outdoor Archery State Champs
Last weekend, Apollo High School was named S3DA Outdoor Archery State Champs! Several local students placed in different divisions. We are super proud of these kids! The S3DA Archery State Tournament was held onthis past weekend in Pulaski County. More than 300 shooters participated in the tournament approximately 90 being from the Owensboro area.
Apollo High School brought home a first place finish, with Daviess County High School coming in at a close second. The first place score for Apollo was a combined team score with the top shooters being Dalton Curtis, Kent Wethington, Christian Jones, Holly Armstrong, and Taylor Addisson. College View placed first in the Middle School team division, with Daviess County Middle in second.
The course was very rigorous with steep uphill and downhill shots that created quite the challenged for many shooters. In the High School Female Pins division, Holly Armstrong placed second, and Taylor Adkisson placed third, both from Apollo. Meg Curtis, from Apollo, placed third in the High School Female Open division. Hallie French, from Apollo, earned first place for Shooter of the Year in High School Female Pins. Taylor Adkisson placed third for Shooter of the Year in this same class.
Lucas Gillaspie, from DCHS, finished third place in the state tournament in High School Male Pins. Ann Katherine Warren, from College View Middle School, finished third in the state tournament and secured a first place finish for Shooter of the Year in Middle School Female Pins. Harley Wilson, also from College View, placed second in both the state tournament and Shooter of the Year in the same class. Caden Huff, from College View, was third place for Shooter of the Year Middle School Male Pins and Grayson Montgomery, from College View, won first place for Middle School Male Open at the state tournament. Dave Hast of College View placed third for Shooter of the Year in the Middle School Male Open division.
Schools represented from Owensboro-Daviess County include; Apollo High School, Daviess County High School, Owensboro Catholic High, College View Middle, Daviess County Middle, Burns Middle, Split Arrow Archery Club, and three elementary school shooters.
Many of these shooters shot their very best on this course. We are incredibly honored to be a part of a community that is embracing the sport of Archery.
