A taste of Nashville, Tennessee is coming to Henderson, Kentucky this weekend.  So, is a big ole taste of musical theatre.  The brand new musical, A Better Man, is coming to the Preston Arts Center (on the campus of Henderson Community College) 6:30pm on Saturday, October 16th.

A Better Man is a musical about love, heartache, faith and redemption.  I'm not sure about you, but that sounds like a country song to me.  In fact, that sounds like just about every country song that's ever been released.

According to the musical's official website, A Better Man tells the story of a "small town girl with big city dreams."  Her name is Nora Jean Mavens and she hails from Bigelow, Arkansas.  Desperate to hold onto her family's land, she works incredibly long hours and endures an abusive husband.  Soon, she begins to fall for a "suave country music producer from Nashville."  That producer hears Nora Jean sing, the two fall in love and A Better Man takes us on a musical journey toward Nora's pursuit of the "ever" in "happily ever after."

Here's a sample of the music from the show.  This song, called "A Ship in a Bottle," is performed by the character Jessie Ray Mavens, who's Nora Jean's husband. Take a listen.
