A couple of months ago, a friend of mine made a social media post about shopping with their child. It brought awareness to a topic that some folks may not ever think of. Shopping inclusivity. Sometimes kiddos don't understand the importance of staying close to their parents in busy stores like super markets or crowded places.

Of course, as parents we all want to avoid the panic of our child wandering off and not being able to find them. Especially if they aren't verbal or have communication barriers. How will they ask for help? These are things that some of us don't consider if it doesn't pertain to us.

Other special needs can also make shopping more of a challenge. Caregivers of children or folks with mobility issues that require wheelchairs or other devices struggle navigating the aisles of most stores.

These hardships are something that Caroline's Carts is on a mission to remedy. Increasing accessibility means making lives easier for people who need it. It means inclusion and freedom. The carts are produced by Wanzl North America, but the idea came from an inspired mom and dad.

Created by Drew Ann and David Long, inspired by their daughter Caroline, this innovative shopping cart provides a safe and comfortable way to transport individuals who may have difficulty sitting in a regular cart.

With an adjustable 5-point harness seat and the capacity for 35-250 lbs. Caroline's Carts also feature side handles, extra wheels and open up a whole new positive shopping experience for people who may not have been able to shop in the store with their loved one otherwise.

Here in Owensboro, I have only ever seen these carts at Target on Frederica St. Until this week when Walmart on Leitchfield Rd. posted the arrival of their new Caroline's Cart. To use the cart, all you have to do is ask an associate for assistance.

Total game changer. Thanks to Walmart for making this happen. Most importantly, I hope this encourages other stores to follow your lead and make Owensboro a more inclusive place for all.
