This just in this evening.  The Centers for Disease Control is recommending no gatherings of 50 or more people for the next eight weeks.  Exact details of the recommendations are still being made public, but we know the guidance does not apply to schools and businesses.

Earlier today, the governors of several states (Ohio and Illinois, for example) announced the closure of restaurants and bars, limiting those businesses to carry-out services only.

In addition to the CDC issuing the suggestion of the suspension for gatherings over 50 people, the agency also issued some guidance in the event that is not possible.  The CDC again stressed that events of this size should only be conducted if they adhere to strict social distancing and hygiene guidelines.

Of course, this is not a mandate from the CDC, but a suggestion.  Ultimately, enforcement belongs to local, state and federal officials.
