Week one of Christmas Wish is in the books and I have to say that it's been heart warming and heart wrenching all at the same time. You still have time to get your Christmas Wish letters in, but please be sure you don't make these common mistakes.

There was the young single mom who is battling breast cancer and can't work because of her recent double mastectomy. She walked by the Christmas Wish office in the Towne Square Mall three times before she stopped to fill out a letter to ask for help so her 12 year old son could have a Christmas. With tears in her eyes she told me her sad story.

Then there was the grandfather who took custody of his daughters three children because she could no longer care for them only to get laid off from his job. He worked so hard to clean them up, stabilize them in his home and now doesn't know how he'll give them a proper Christmas. Their Mom let them down their whole life and he just can't let that happen again. He told his story on the air with me and his tears didn't stop because he never thought he'd have to ask for help.

These are stories heard in letter after letter. The holidays are such a tough time when you're struggling. We have an amazing team of volunteers that investigate every letter to be sure that the letters are legitimate. They call the schools, other programs to be sure there's no "double dipping with other organizations" and make sure the family is truly in need before a letter can be granted.

So far there's 395 letters received to date with more coming in daily. You still have time to get your letters in, but do so soon. Please be sure these common mistakes are taken care of to help our volunteers and give your letter the best chance to be granted.

If you want to know if we've received your letter or if your letter has been granted please wait at least a week before you inquire as it'll take some time. Please use this email for all questions going forward and give us 48 hours to respond. Give us as much information in the email to help us locate your letter and tell us what you need to know.
