Cincinnati Named One of the Top 10 Summer Destinations in America
Road trip alert! While big-name cities like Orlando, Atlanta, Austin, and Washington lead the way in a new WalletHub study of the best summer destinations, Cincinnati is right there near the top as well. The city was just ranked one of the best summer travel spots in the country, landing in the top 10 nationally.
Cincinnati is basically in our backyard, and it's one of my favorite quick getaways. Whether you're taking the kids to the zoo or catching a Reds game, you can make it a day trip or a full weekend without breaking the bank! What's your favorite destination?
Cincinnati is Ranked a Top Summer Destination
The rankings come from a WalletHub analysis that compared 100 of the largest U.S. metro areas. Each city was scored across six key areas, including travel costs and hassles, local prices, attractions, weather, activities, and safety. The goal was to measure not just where people want to go, but where they actually get the most value once they arrive.
With nearly 72 percent of Americans planning a summer trip, the study highlights destinations that balance fun with affordability at a time when travel costs remain top of mind.
Why Cincinnati Scored Well
Cincinnati stands out as a place that offers a lot to do without the high price tag of many major vacation spots. That mix helped push it into the top 10 overall.
Families especially have plenty of options. The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is one of the most well-known zoos in the country, while nearby Kings Island brings in crowds for roller coasters and summer thrill rides.
The city also scores well for outdoor space and easy sightseeing. Spots like Smale Riverfront Park and Eden Park offer river views, walking paths, and green space right in the city.

Attractions that Define the City
Beyond the outdoors, Cincinnati brings a mix of sports, culture, and history. Great American Ball Park draws baseball fans all summer, while the Cincinnati Art Museum and Cincinnati Observatory add cultural stops.
Food and local flavor are also part of the appeal at Findlay Market, one of Ohio’s oldest public markets. Visitors can also explore the city’s baseball history at the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum or take underground tours that highlight a lesser-known side of the city.
