Where to See Classic Movies on the Big Screen in 2024 in KY & IN

I LOVE going to the movies. I can still remember seeing certain films right down to who I was with and which theaters I saw them in. Remember when the Malco was in Wesleyan Park Plaza or Lincoln Mall? Some of you may even remember the original Malco downtown or Empress Theatre which is now Theatre Workshop of Owensboro.

The movies I remember most are considered "Classics" now which is kind of weird. The Labyrinth with David Bowie, Steel Magnolias, The Muppet Movie, and The Neverending Story to name several.

Classics to me, are films like Gone With the Wind, My Fair Lady, or Alfred Hitchcock's "greatest hits." Can you believe some of these are celebrating 70 and 80-year anniversaries this year? They stand the test of time still entertaining and educating each decade watching for the first time.

As a mom, one of my favorite things is showing some of these beloved stories to my 9-year-old son, Rollins. His questions about the time-period in which the movies are set are sometimes hilarious and it's fun to see what parts are his favorites. I was excited to see that a lot of these classics are coming back to big screens all across the country including some theatres in the Tri-State area.
