Meet 8-year-old Lachlan, a brave young warrior who's been fighting stage 4 Medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. People across Ohio County, Daviess County, and beyond have rallied together to pray for and support Lachlan and his family during this difficult journey. Recently, Lachlan and his family joined the WBKR/Window World St. Radiothon to share their story and raise funds for other children battling cancer. Their strength and courage continue to inspire, and their journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of community and hope in the face of adversity. #warriorlachlan

KREIS FAMILY INSPIRES DURING THE ST. JUDE RADIOTHON

One of my favorite moments of the St. Jude Radiothon happened today when Lachlan and the Kreis family walked through the door to share their story. Their courage and strength were truly inspiring, and it was incredible to see how they motivated so many people to become a "Partner-in-Hope" with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Their journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting families like theirs and helping to make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer.

Zach and Breanna Kreis have been living every parent's worst nightmare. What began as a simple complaint of a headache from their precious son quickly turned into something unimaginable. After an emergency trip to the ER and an immediate CT scan, their lives were turned upside down with the heartbreaking news that no parent ever wants to hear.

After two grueling hours of waiting, doctors walked in with the devastating news: “Your son has a large mass on the back of his brain.” On November 3rd, 2023, Lachlan was quickly transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital for further evaluation. Just three days later, Lachlan underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor, marking the beginning of a long and difficult journey for him and his family.

Here they are, speaking in their own words during the St. Jude Radiothon.

After his initial treatment, Lachlan and his family were transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he began radiation and, eventually, chemotherapy. Despite the overwhelming challenges, Lachlan showed incredible strength and resilience throughout his treatment. After months of battling, he triumphantly rang the chemo bell on August 9th, 2024, marking a major milestone in his journey.  Another huge milestone was still yet to come!

EXCITING UPDATE TO SHARE DURING RADIOTHON

Bree shared this news on November, 12th, 2024.

"We wanted to share that this guy…. is cancer free and all counts have recovered!!! Next step the port will finally come out!

On our way back from Cincinnati Children’s, we got the very best news we could ever ask for, there are no signs of disease and all of Warrior Lachlan's numbers have recovered! We know your journey is not over, but this is a HUGE win! We couldn’t have done it without all the support! Truly amazing!"

Something incredible happened on February 4th, 2025. His port was removed! Just look at the huge smile on his face. What a huge milestone for this young warrior.

PRAYERS CONTINUE FOR LACHLAN AND THE KREIS FAMILY

Faith has become a strong pillar, giving Zach, Breanna, and their family the strength to face each day as it comes. I pray they remain strong and courageous through this continued journey. I pray that the Lord continues to heal Lachlan’s brain, with comfort and peace. The power of prayer can work miracles, and this beautiful family will continue to need the love, support, and prayers as they navigate the road ahead. May they feel the warmth of hope every step of the way.
