Folks meaning me. I am folks. Or at least, I understand why customers are flocking to social media to share their strong feelings about Cracker Barrel's makeover.

Over the past year, select stores have traded the brown thatched walls covered in antiques, junk, old-timey photos, for white shiplap and a modernized farmhouse look. At the beginning of the year, my mom and I ate at a Cracker Barrel in Mt. Juliet, TN. When we walked in, it felt like we were in a different restaurant.

Even the checker situation has been updated. No more black and white rag-woven mats with giant checker discs by the fireplace either. They've been replaced with sleek side tables, and the game board is painted on top. I can see the older version being harder to clean, but dang! The nostalgia factor was just ripped away. See for yourself.

Luckily, for my mom and me, the experience was still everything you hope for in a Cracker Barrel. Great southern hospitality, fast service, and hot, delicious home cookin.' Even though the decor was sparse and the walls were white and barren, we enjoyed every bite of our biscuits.
