When I was told that I could learn how to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on the violin in five minutes or less, I scoffed.

As much as I love music, I'm no instrumentalist of any kind. I took piano lessons for five years when I was a kid, but they didn't amount to much in the long run, unfortunately.

And, for whatever reasons, I had never touched a violin. Didn't even know how to hold one.

All indications were that this was going to be a train wreck.

But, then again, Randy Lanham was going to be my teacher. So, from the get-go, I had a leg up.

The grand opening of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum was Saturday. It was the perfect place to learn how to play.
