David Arquette Appearing in Louisville for ‘Scream’ Screening
When I attended WKU, the Downing University Center or DUC would show advanced screenings of movies. They would show up a few weeks before they were released in theaters. Little did we know, that one advanced screening would be unforgettable, the 1996 horror classic Scream.
Unless you are absolutely scared of scary movies, you know that Scream brought back the horror movie craze. It's one of those movies once you see it, you want to watch it again, but it won't be as crazy because you know the plot and all the twists and turns. Even though it was released close to 30 years ago, I will not spoil it.
One of the most memorable characters in the movie, and there are many, is Deputy Dewey Riley portrayed by David Arquette. He plays the character as mild-mannered, maybe a little naive, but again, you have to see the movie, well movies, to see how Dewey evolves. Oops, that's a tiny spoiler.
The day before Halloween this year, David Arquette/Dewey will be in Louisville for a special screening of the OG Scream at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
The movie will begin at 7:30 p.m. (EST) followed by a conversation and Q&A session with Arquette talking about how Scream has impacted the horror genre and how it has impacted his career. Arquette met his first wife actress Courtney Cox on the set of Scream and they were married in 1999; sadly they divorced in 2013, and they have one daughter, Coco.
