Community Emergency Response Team Training Course July 2024

Trainings begin July 11th and continue Thursdays through August. Here are some of the topics covered:

• Disaster Preparedness
• Fire Suppression
• Medical – 3 killers, Triage, Head-to-toe
• Medical – Treatment, Medical Areas, Sanitation
• Light Search and Rescue
• Team Organization and Disaster Psychology
• Terrorism Module

What Do CERT Teams Do During Emergencies?

According to the Daviess County EMA Facebook Page, CERT Teams assist with the following to assist local emergency services:
• Conduct an initial size-up in their homes, neighborhoods and/or workplaces
• Turn off utilities, suppress small fires, evacuate the area, help other
• Collect damage information for authorities
• Apply training to situations where CERT members can make a difference
• Establish and maintain communication with emergency responders

How Can CERT Teams Help During Non-Emergencies?

After training, you may be able to assist with the following whenever needed:
• Distribute and install smoke alarms
• Assist with traffic control
• Promote community preparedness
• Supplement special event staffing
• Act as victims in training exercises
