Deadly Shooting at Jason Aldean Concert in Las Vegas
Breaking news this morning. There was a mass shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night. Country music singer Jason Aldean was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival at the time shots were fired. Here's the latest . . .
And here's footage of Jason at the moment he realized what was happening. He was singing 'When She Says Baby" when the gunman opened fire.
As you can see, Jason, likely because his ear pieces were in, couldn't hear the gun shots initially. It wasn't until his band quit playing that he realized he needed to take cover.
Jason commented officially on Instagram page- "Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don't know what to say, but I wanted to let everyone know that me and my crew are safe. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. Period. #Heartbroken #StopTheHate"
The shooting, with over 50 now confirmed dead, is the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. Police estimate the concert crowd at 22,000 at the time shots were fired. The 64-year-old shooter, identified as Stephen Paddock, fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and authorities say his hotel room contained at least ten different firearms. Police say Paddock killed himself before they entered his hotel room.
