If you're out and about on Saturday, the Daviess County Democratic Party invites you to participate in an important event that will benefit area veterans. The party is hosting a drive-thru food drive from 10am to Noon. They're collecting food, of course, as well as clothing.

The items collected will be delivered to the Veterans Clinic for distribution.  That clinic is located on New Hartford Road here in town.

Here's a list of the types of items the Democratic Party hopes to collect Saturday: new t-shirts and sweatshirts, coats, pants, socks, hats, and gloves.  Obviously, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all donated clothing MUST be new due to public health guidelines.

The Daviess County Democratic Party also wants to remind folks that many of our local veterans are homeless.  With winter weather just around the bend, Saturday's food and clothing drive is incredibly important.

If you have food items or clothing to donate, you can do so drive-thru-style at the Democratic Party Headquarters at 233 Williamsburg Square in Owensboro.

According to the official release from the party, "Veterans have made a difference in the life we are all able to live. Now it’s our chance to make a difference in theirs. Let them know we have not forgotten their sacrifice. They served us, it is our turn to serve them."
