Enjoy Some Time Outside with the Kids for Take A Kid Outdoors Day in Owensboro
Calling all families and kids this weekend the Daviess County Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a super fun event and everyone is invited.
THE ADVANTAGES OF GETTING OUTDOORS
Being outdoors just does something for the soul. Especially with the weather the way it has been lately it is guaranteed to boost your mood but it does more than that.
According to an article in healthychildren.org;
Children and teens who spend time playing outside and enjoying nature can be: Physically healthier. Children play harder outdoors than indoors and they need daily opportunities to do so. More outdoor time is linked with improved motor development and lower obesity rates and myopia (nearsightedness) risk.
TAKE A KID OUTDOORS THIS WEEKEND
This is the second event for Take A Kid Outdoors this summer. The idea is to give kids an opportunity to get outside and enjoy nature.
The first event took place in June and it was Take A Kid Fishing. August's event will be held at the Daviess County Gun Club on Saturday the 27th from 9-11 a.m. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and lunch will be provided to all who register. A parent or guardian must attend the event with each child.
Activities include firearm safety, ATV safety, live firearm shooting, archery, animal tracking, and much more fun.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE OCTOBER EVENT
Who loves camping? October's event will be Take A Kid Tent Camping. The fun will take place at Panther Creek Park and lots of fun activities will take place. The fun happens on Saturday, October 21.
