Exciting News for Young Cross Country Runners in Western Kentucky

It’s almost that time again! The East Daviess County Elementary Racing Series is gearing up for another season of exciting cross country racing at Yellow Creek Park just outside the city limits of Owensboro, Kentucky.

There are four separate race days scheduled in September and organizers recently revealed the competition dates. They are as follows:
Tuesday, September 5th
Tuesday, September 12th
Tuesday, September 19th
Tuesday, September 26th
If you have an elementary school runner who'd like to participate, you can simply register on location the day of the event. That entry fee is minimal. It's just ONE DOLLAR per runner.

Registration/sign-in runs from 4:45pm to 5:15pm each race day. Races start at 5:30pm, with a rolling start between races. As one group finished, the next group will start. Here are the divisions available and the times their races are scheduled to begin each day:
Boys K-2 race (5:30)
Girls K-2 race (5:45) - Followed by the K-2 Raffle
Boys 3-5 race (6:00)
Girls 3-5 race (6:15) - Followed by the 3-5 Raffle
Yellow Creek Park features a distinct tree line along its cross country course and the the elementary school runners will be competing on a modified inner loop along that tree line. The total distance of each race is approximately 7/10 of a mile.
Every runner gets a participation ribbon, but there are prizes for the top finishers. In the first three races of the season, the Top 10 runners in each race will be given a place ribbon as they come across the finish line.

However, in the final race of the season (September 26th), the Top 10 racers will receive a medal and t-shirt and news of their victory and placement will be shared with local schools and media outlets.
And here's a fun addition to the season! The elementary school with the highest attendance over the duration of the series will receive a $250 check.
