The Annual First Responders BBQ is This Week in Owensboro, KY

The Wendell Foster Center in Owensboro says, "It's officially BBQ Week!" If you have ties to a local police officer, firefighter or EMT, you likely know exactly what that means. Wendell Foster is teaming up with the Chamber Young Professionals for a special event that pays tribute to our local heroes. They've once again joined forces for the annual First Responders BBQ and it's coming up later this week.

The Wendell Foster Center, like it has done with this event since 2018, cordially invites all local law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMTs to the Wendell Foster Sensory Park for delicious food and fun.

The First Responders BBQ is co-hosted by the Chamber Young Professionals, a collection of community-minded and driven young business leaders associated with the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce. They'll be out in force, along with Wendell Foster Center staff and residents, to help celebrate, feed and entertain our first responders.

The First Responders BBQ is set for 10:30am through 1pm, Thursday, July 18th. There will be lunch, yard games, door prizes, a radio broadcast and ice cream. That ice cream is courtesy of Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers here in Owensboro.

Just a few days ago, Gabby Jackson (Wendell Foster Center's Community Engagement Specialist) and Jake Boswell ( from Chamber Young Professionals) visited WEHT's Local Lifestyles to share more details about the BBQ.

As Gabby says in the video, "This is a great way to show these first responders how much we care about them and how we recognize their service."
