First Responders, Wendell Foster & CYP Want to Celebrate You at Annual BBQ
The Wendell Foster Center and Owensboro Chamber Young Professionals are excited for the upcoming 2025 First Responders' BBQ. It's an annual event to honor law enforcement, firefighters, and EMTs in the area.
Owensboro is lucky to have exceptional first responders who put their lives on the line daily to help our community stay safe and healthy. We would be in a world of hurt without them for sure! I have to give a personal shout-out to Fire Department Station Five for taking care of my mama and daddy on several occasions.
A few years ago, I was also fortunate enough to participate in a ride-along with the Owensboro Police Department through the Leadership Owensboro program, which opened my eyes to how officers interact with the community. He treated people with respect and kindness and is passionate about serving others.
Providing services for a medically vulnerable population, Wendell Foster feels the same gratitude for Owensboro first responders. In 2018, they decided to start honoring them with a community event so that people could come and get to know them better. Partnering with the Chamber Young Professionals for the past couple of years, it's something everyone involved looks forward to.
All local first responders are welcome to join us this Thursday, July 17th, from 10:30 AM to 1 PM at the Wendell Foster Sensory Park for free lunch. Atmos Energy is responsible for the grill action, and somebody said something about ice creeaaaaam. We'll play games, give away door prizes, and I'll be broadcasting live. So join us!
