Kentucky Mom Rescues a “Forky” Outside a Local Dollar General Store
This is Forky.
If you've ever seen Toy Story 4, you're likely familiar with this guy. That was his big motion picture debut. In that movie, the character Bonnie created Forky as part of school craft project. She made him by sticking eyes and a red pipe cleaner on a spork. And, thus, Forky was born unto the world!
Here's the scene from the movie where everyone gets to meet Forky for the first time.
Well, this is fun! Over the weekend, Melody Gipe Hayden and her daughters (Elizabeth and Ella) visited a local Dollar General. They just happened to stumble upon a crushed "Forky" in the parking lot of the store. Melody, who works 60-hour weeks, admits that she may sound a little crazy, but says that her "heart sunk when she saw Forky."
So, with her daughters' help, she sprang into action. The first thing the Haydens did was make Forky a blanket so he wouldn't be cold. LOL!
And, yes! They made his blanket out of an ordinary, run-of-the-mill napkin. Then, Melody decided that Forky may need some additional assistance too. Not knowing how long he had been stranded in the parking lot, she figured he was probably hungry. So, she made him a "Will Work for Food" sign.
Well, Monday afternoon, Melody headed back over to the Dollar General to check on Forky to see how he was doing. Lo and behold, he was still there. Once again, she doctored him up!
Melody says that when she and the kids saw Forky, they started to laugh and decided, as a family, to help out the poor little guy. She said, "We just organically started making signs."
So, if you happen to stop by the Dollar General Store in Philpot, Kentucky, be on the lookout for Forky. It's quite possible you'll find him here . . .
Unless someone, not knowing how popular and famous he is, put Forky in the trashy.
